Smile Impressed, yet again, with the load carrying ability of the Signum

Had to go and get some wood yesterday from a local DIY store and I knew they would be longish pieces given that's how they come - so set off to the store. Had toyed with sticking the roof bars on just in case but was pressed for time as it was about quarter to four and they shut at four so whizzed off down there.

Once there I had two options of lengths (ooer missus! lol) - 2.4m and 3.0m. I knew the 2.4 would fit as I'd had that length in before (ooer again!), but after a quick calculation I worked out that the 3.0m was the better option. 2.4m would have required more pieces, also with a lot of waste.

So, loaded up four pieces of 3.0m 3"x2" on the trolley hoping that they'd fit in the car. Got to the car thinking if they didn't fit I could always ring Mrs Duncan to pop down with my roof bars - if only I'd picked up my phone in the rush to get to the store!

So, no option other than to give it a shot and see where I got - at least I had some straps so could've had the tailgate slightly open for the five minute drive back.

No need, Signum swallowed them with no sweat......

So that's four pieces of 3.0m 3"x2" I can add to the list of things that the car will take!

Now I've just got to turn said pieces of 3"x2" into a new garden gate! Today's job!

When I went to look at the Siggy that I am buying, I was amazed at the room in it when you flattened the back seats. Really like the way the back seats are adjustable too.

    Hah! That's amatuerish.

4 Fully grown trogladites and associated garbage to and from the Reading Rock festival site. (little brother and friends!)

Siggy swallowed the lot! Tents, barbeques, beer etc!

Mind you, the Punto took more than its fair share too!!

D, do you have the fold flat front seat as the optional extra too?

Agreed, it wasn't a good example of the capacity of a Signum, but I thought the fact that it took 3.0m lengths of timber was rather good.

Now this is a better example of what it's carried in the past....

No, I just reclined the front seat right back. Fold flat front seat could've been useful at times though!

Yep, they share the same floorpan/wheelbase - the Estate just has a bit extra (around 6" I think) tagged on the back!
