question for police

With all due respect taaz, the question which has been asked is not a question that any Police Officer can/should answer, it is a question for a solicitor. As the original post asked for Police Officers to reply, are you at all surprised that we have posted our feelings on the matter, as well as what little advice we can offer?!

I think Jamie's reply pretty much sums it up perfectly.

There's no way that a police officer is going to give 'advice' on how to possibly get away on a technicality - certainly not on a public forum. Also, once they've read the circumstances of the incident i.e. almost double in a 30 limit then personal opinions are obviously going to come into it as these guys deal with the aftermath of this sort of thing every day.

As has been said, if the guy is looking to get away with it due to his points situation etc. then it's really a solicitor that he has to be approaching, not police officers - especially as I think all our Traffic Officer members are in English constabularys so the law will be different than in Scotland.

many thanks for the replies, saw the numptie this morning and told him that imho he should just stick his hands up, bend over and expect to be butt-f****d, and the general consensus around the work place is "that'll teach you".
i think he now realises that a moment of stupidity could have had far reaching consequences
