BTW make shure to clean all the surroundings of the dipstick before you take it out.....you dont want dirt going in there

Tks both of you. I've now located that green button type dipstick.
Where do I get the midget to get down there to pull it out?
I can just about see it but unsure I can reach it!!
    Designers !!

Apparently the software in the car as a whole was the "old version"

I have noticed a difference in the box, the timings seem a lot better and generally smoother, but that was only a trip 'round the block' - Will have to see how it performs over time, but something tells me this isn't over yet
I live pretty local to you (a few miles outside Bedford), and have a U480 CANBUS code reader that works on my 53 reg Signum, so if you want to contact me by PM I can probably arrange to plug it in and read any codes that exist. The key one for the gearbox problem is P0715, it means that the input and output shaft speeds don't match the gear selected.

FYI I had a replacement gearbox in August, paid for by Vx as it was due to the coolant leak that the work you've had done is supposed to prevent.
