    Default AVI files

Just come to watch some video that i downloaded, its an AVI file and its really jerky.

It seems as though some of the files run ok, others virtually unwatchable but the sound is fine.

    Any ideas?

I would update your codecs from here:-
    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

and use the windows media player 6.4 supplied with this pack.

Also make sure that you don't have too many icons down by the clock.

You can stop programs from running by typing 'msconfig' in a run command.

Untick the boxes of the relevant programs in the startup tab.

Reboot and watch you computer fly!

Also give VLC Media Player a go:-

    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

    Free prog, its open source.

I find a lot of things Windows Media Player wont even look at, VLC plays with no drama at all.

    Worth trying.
