    Default Quick tyre question...

    My Vectra has the following tyres on it ;

    Front - 215/50/R17

    Back - 215/50/ZR17

    ...are these the right ones? sure I read somewhere you can get a different, cheaper tyre thats a different size.

    225/45/17 is the alternative mate. Cheaper cos there are more choice of tyres and speedo is hardly altered. If speedo says 60 you will be doing 58.

    ALthough it won't be that accurate to start with! Yes 215/50/17 are also the right size. I also have 225/45/17's, a much bigger choice in type whilst being a little cheaper too.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    ...is there anything that needs to be altered to put these alternatives on?

    I've got two goodyear nct's on the front and some new cheap ones on the back (that the dealer put on as the result of an MOT fail)

    I was just browsing around the internet earlier looking to find out how much it would cost to fit some Conti's when they're next in need of changing

    No nothing needs to be altered at all. Just put them on the same axle and its usually good pratice to put new tyres on the rear but thats your choice really. Mine went on the front. I have 225/45/17 on the front and 215/50/17 on the rear. Unless you knew you would not see the difference.
