Default Help needed / First Vectra / Cat C Flooded

Hi all, first post so 'HELLO VECTRA WORLD' :-)

I have been looking for a decent family car since selling my Mondeo ST220 to fund a kitcar project.. I came across a Cat C 04 Vectra Design 1.9CDTI for £3995. Its been flood damaged, and is still quite wet inside on the seats but everything else seems dry'ish. So I got it today for £3900 (95 quid off..owwwww) and have found afew problems so far. I was hoping if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

ok heres the list so far...

    1. Airbag light goes off for 1 second on start up then comes back on. Now I do have a odb reader for my laptop but sadly i doesnt do CAN. (tried it but it doesnt sense anything) I want to find out which airbag is causing the problem.. Anyone in the bolton area with a reader handy ?

    2. The drivers door window controls didnt really work, the up didnt go up on its own etc.. BUT I have just been outside and took it out, stripped it down, cleaned all the contacts and it now works 100%.. so forget this one.. lol (just wanted to at least prove I've fixed something. lol

    3. There was no code provided for the stereo its a ccr2006, can I get this from a secret menu or something.. or is it held in a eeprom inside ? I do have a reader so if anyone can point me to the right chip it would be most helpful.

    4. No locking nut wheel thingy for the alloys, can I get one from vauxhall ?

    5. Plastic tow cap for the front bumper missing

    cheers guys :-)

very happy so far.. says I've got 230miles left on half a tank.. I would be lucky to get 250 out of my ST220 with a full tank !

you wont need a stereo code. They are matched to the ecu, apparently.

    How deep was the water?

Hi m8, the stereo just says 'SAFE' and from doing a quick search if I hold down AS and turn it on it allows me to enter a code so I think this one might be before they stored it in the ECU. I have also deconnected the battery for 20 mins to clear the ECU to see if it helped with the airbag fault but it didnt.

The water from what I can tell was just below the dash. I have checked the oil and water and they all see fine, its been fully valeted but the seats have soaked up loads.. be afew weeks I think before its fully dry.

On my 53 plate, when we disconnected the battery, it needed a 4 digit code before the stereo worked again.

If you contact a main dealer with the chassis number of the car, they can get you the car pass for about £20 which will give you the stereo ode, but only for the stereo that was in it when it left the factory, if its been changed since then, then you may have a problem.

Might be your seat air bags then. Disconnect the neg on the battery and leave for about 15 mins then unplug the seat electrics (big plug under seats). Connect neg and turn ignition on and see if that solves the dash light?
This thread should help with the plug location. http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15095

Just been out there and the contact box under the seat is soaking still, and the carpets are the same. I may just leave it a week or two to see if it fixs itself when it dry's out.

What would you guys recommend ?
