Default Sad To Say But It's Goodbye

Regretted getting the 1.8VVTi so set off test driving a few diesels and after driving the Vectra SRi 1.9, Mondeo Ghia 2.0 and Accord Sport 2.2 I have gone for the Accord. Reason, felt the best put together, not much between the Vectra and Accord performance wise but just felt the Honda was a bit smoother and the final thing, you can't tell you are in a diesel in the Accord. A remap will bring it up to 170 bhp and 400 nm so happy with that and only £115 for car tax . Got a better PX deal off the Honda dealer than Vaux dealer and only lost £650 on the Vec over 3.5 months so well happy.

    Good luck to you all.

    Cheers

Without sounding cheeky, how much did you get for the vec and how much was the accord(was it brand new?).

What didn't you like about the 1.8vvt?

Well just to give you all an update, the Accord Sport had a few problems that the dealer could not resolve to their or my satisfaction. They took the car back and replaced it with a 2.2 i-CDTi Accord Executive with full leather, electric seats, touchscreen DVD sat nav. I will put some pictures up once I have fitted the 17" alloys I have just picked up.

Videodoctor, the Accord is secondhand with the Honda dealer offering £500 more on the PX than the Vaux dealer for a car that was £1000 less than the Vec. The Accord is a little older than the Vec I was looking at. I did not like the 1.8vvti as it just took too long to get going and with the daily miles I now do to get to work and back the diesel is the best option. Would of got a Vec if the deal was right but Vaux would not budget and Honda gave the best all round service especially proven when they changed the car.

Sadly you picked the worst engine to have in a Vectra, and it'll never compete against the CDTi's.

Honda like all the still Japanese owned Jap firms are well known to offer good service levels so you are on a winner there, Accord vs Vectra is a bit of an unfair comparison though, the Vec is built for discounts and rep use, where the Accord is an Audi/BMW/Merc competitor really.

Anyway, enjoy the new car, and maybe next time around you may find the next gen Vectra a better choice.
