Hi Guys, in serious need of your help!
car is 55 plate Siggy 1.9CDTi(150) use car for work and do 50K+ miles per year and as it's my car it gets looked after i.e never been thrashed in its life and done 85% of the 71k cruising in sixth on the motorway and noticed chattering noise when clutch pressed lightly.
Been into stealers today and guess what they say dual mass flywheel is shot and they want a cool £1300! to replace it and the clutch!
well to say I was gob smacked is a major understatement!
I am seriously sceptical about the diagnosis, how can they say it's deffo dmf? when the slightest press on the clutch gets the noise up at this point surely the flywheel is still fully engaged with the clutch plate?unless I'm mistaken? and the car drives perfect apart from this noise?
done over half a million miles in last ten years and never had a clutch/flywheel issue most distressed I can tell you!
been onto VX support and you guessed it not interested!
I have a separate "warranty direct" warranty on the car but after what dealers said I seriously doubt that they will payout, how can a sodding flywheel be classed as a consumable part like a set of brake pads or the clutch plate? not a happy camper as I'm sure you will have gathered by now! one silver lining which I read on this forum was from VECCY22 who said he got all the lot changed for less than £600! now thats what I call a good deal, any advise will be greatly received.
