Default Trolley Jack - Best location for Vectra C

    Hi

Where is the best position to use a trolley jack at the front and rear of the Vectra C ?

I just jacked mine up using the square scissor jack guide locator, i'm sure there is a better location without putting hole in the floor

Pics would be great ... please

    Thanks

I used a section just in front of the plastic locator, its a small section thats the correct size to locate the lifting arm of the jack.

Small lump of wood on the plate of the jack that fits into the normal recess, then use the original point.

I usually use the inboard lower suspension arm point. Where the bush is.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

That's what I used to do, but found it a little bit iffy....

What I do now is use a larger block of wood and go under the chassis - basically straight in from that point.

That's where I used to put the axle stands .....

....but now put them under the subframe a bit further in.

Will see if I can get some pics tomorrow as these came from my How 2 thread on oil/filter change.

As for the rear, I simply put the jack carefully under the lower suspension arm to jack then put an axle stand further in on the arm. I'll also get a pic tomorrow if I can.

    Thanks Duncan

Do you jack underneath the bushing (the cylinder thing)? it looks quite unstable.

More photos would be great .... cheers

Never jacked under it, only ever put an axle stand there so obviously couldn't jack under it as well - but as I said I now use part of the subframe for axle stands instead. Will try and get pics today.

    Eek Jacking Points - Caution

Be careful - what look like solid rectanglar jack head `receptacles' on the sills are in fact only bits of plastic, which plug into the bottom of the sill with a plastic `fir tree' connector. If you side load them they can pop out at an angle. Not nice - if fact ***p engineering.
