Default How do I change the dipped beam bulb?

    Hi All,
got a 2003 3litre V6 vectra with a blown dipped beam bulb on the passenger side. not too much of a problem, or so I thought! I know things are abit tight in the engine bay but for the life of me I can't get the old bulb out to replace it!

Can anyone help talk me through it?

    Cheers,

    Johnny Kebab

'tis a bu**er - especially on the 3.0 as it's a big engine. First thing is to remove the windscreen washer filler pipe. Make sure there's no water at in it, unclip it from the body and just twist it to and fro and pull - it'll just pop off. That'll give you a more room to get your hand in. Then it's just a case of getting the little clip on cover off and getting the bulb off. Fiddly, but if you take your time you should do it without too much swearing!

Right, assuming it's definitely the sidelight at the bottom?, and not the main beam above it, then you simply take hold of the little black bulb holder and pull it straight out - simple as that.

Edit: For some reason I thought you were talking about the sidelight bulb - gawd knows why when you've said dipped beam all along!! I think your post saying plastic cover threw me as the cover for the sidelight and high beam is plastic, the one for the dipped beam is rubber. That's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it!

Right, in that case you grab the black plastic bit on the end of the bulb holder and turn anti-clockwise. A 45 degree turn should loosen the holder to let you get it out.

I changed all 4 headlight bulbs on my CDTi the other evening - it was a b*tch of a job - particularly the drivers side there was hardly enough room for my hand
