TBH if your LED is illuminating when you press the button I would doubt the switch being the cause Not sure where the reciever is for the key's RF signal although if I had to guess I would guess at it being the CIM with perhaps an external arial leading somewhere or using the cars metal body as an arial. But I stand to be corrected. It's a shame you don't have a spare key as you could easily work out if it's the key or the car

I'm still no closer to finding out what it could be.

I have no idea what I'm looking for.

Just thinking, could it be the car battery getting faulty? The radio seems to be a bit dodgy very rarely too. The radio station goes blank for a second then comes back on. Only done about twice, but I'm trying to think of anything at the moment.

You could try cleaning your battery connectors then perhaps with a bit of emery cloth and grease them back up afterwards. Make sure you have your radio code to hand if required before disconnecting the battery though.

If it isn't that I honestly think the quickest and perhaps cheapest(?) way to diagnose the fault would be to get Vx to attach Tech2 which should test recieving side for faults and indicate when the reciever 'hears' the key being pressed.

Someone else may have other ideas you could try??

Just been to Vauxhall to order a new key (3 button flip key) and got quoted £140 all in!!! asif.

    Vauxhall Vantage in Burnley

Anyone know anywhere else in NorthWest?

Oh yeh, I also need a Card Key or something? thats £23 before they can order the key.

I need a new key anyway as I only have 1, so was going to try the new key if not fixed before then.

Where will the Radio Code be?
I've got a 52 plate with NCDC2013 in it. Not sure if it requires the CODE. Taken stereo out before, and not needed ones, but never disconnected battery.

Robbing scrotes!! As per other posts - £37.50 + VAT (Vx list price!) and a programming fee set by the dealer - but any more than £15 + VAT is taking the pee.

Card Pass - little credit card size card with all the relevant codes for the car - key, radio, immobiliser etc.

    On Car Pass.

I thought that model needed a code if the battery was disconnected/stereo taken out - thought it was only the later ones where it didn't. If you've taken the unit out and not needed a code when it's put back in again then it'd suggest you won't need to either if the battery is disconnected.

I thought it may be that if the battery is disconnected, the car will lose the information about the stereo. Thats why it worked with the stereo taken out then put back in, but may not work if the battery is disconnected.

    Right.
So still no closer with diagnosing problem.

Just a little help with prices.
£37.50 + VAT for the Key...
    £15ish for programming

How much will the Card Pass be?
    They quoted £23..

They also said programming of key was £30, which would make key £87 without programming or Card Pass.

If I ordered a Card Pass, how will I get the Radio Code off it? Is it like a swipe card, or is the details printed on the card itself?

I'll have another mess with the key battery then.
The light flashes on the key as normal, and it click when you press so there is contact.

I'm just trying disconnecting the car battery at the moment. I'll leave it disconnected for 30-40mins to see if it works. Hope stereo will work after too :S

    Sounds about the right price.

If they're quoting £30 for programming than that's only on top of the £37.50 + VAT for the key i.e. it should cost you £37.50 + VAT for the key fully cut to your car (that's the VX list price and if they quote more then they are trying to rip you off) plus the programming charge. If they'd said £30 (+ VAT?) then whilst I think it's a bit much it'll make £37.50 + £30, add all the VAT gives £79.31.

Just printed on the card which you then punch into the unit - assuming it needs a code if the battery disconnected. Hopefully another NCDC2013 owner can confirm.

I've found the Car Pass now. Found it in the Vauxhall Wallet.
    It says radio type/code - 2013/XXXX (actually says 'X')
Does this mean it doesn't need a code as my stereo type is 2013.

    Anyway..
The key.. They quoted: £140. That was for key, programming and car pass.
Breakdown of it is: £30 programming, £23 for car pass - which meant they were charging £87 for the key fob and cut instead of £37.50 + VAT.
    Ripoff!!

Going to ring around on Tuesday to get a more realistic quote. I'll give them the part number: 93187531 (3 button flip key) and tell them it has a list price of £37.50 + VAT, so they know not to rip me off.
