Noisy tyres another question

Can anyone on here confirm that replacing the factory fit bridgestones on steel wheels with a different make of tyre did reduce the tyre noise considerably?

I know alot of you on here replace your standard wheels with alloys but i need to know that my steel wheels will be better with new tyres on.

My main dealer is thinking of swapping my tyres over to a different make in order to make them quiet.
They have offered for me to take out another vectra with goodyear tyres on first so that i can compare the noise but the chances are they'll be fitted with alloys.
Hence the original question.

If anyone else thinks that their bridgestone tyres are noisy then get back to your dealer and complain.

There are probably a whole lot of differing opinions on this. I think much comes down to the type/softness of isolating bushes on the suspension for any particular car, as well as the `direct' rubber/road noise. FWIW we have found that Conti Eco-Contact are a good choice for our other (reliable !!) car, a 1.8 Misubishi Carisma, with steel wheels.
