Default Fuel Nozzle stuck in the filler neck.

This actually happened just before i joined this forum back in June, and i kept meaning to post it, but forgot until another thread jogged my memory.

I pulled into the Shell garage in Leighton Buzzard for fuel, filled it right to the top, went to pull the nozzle out, but it was stuck solid. Looking down the small gap between the nozzle and the filler neck, it was obvious the nozzle had been pushed in too far, and got caught on the metal flap thingy in the fuel filler neck.

We tried everything to get the nozzle out of the tank but it wouldnt come out. In the end an old boy pulled in for fuel and could see something was up, and told us to stand aside. He wiggled, pulled, pushed twisted and eventually he got the nozzle out.

It turned out Shell had got a new Pump Head fitted to that diesel pump and it was not quite the same as the other one's, and had the notches on the underside of the nozzle in just the right place to catch on a Vectra C fuel flap!

Apparently Shell had been trialling these with a view to aking them a permanent fixture, after my experience i wont ever use that pump again in the garage!

Anyone else ever had a Fuel Nozzle stuck in the filler neck, its not a nice experience, i had visions of the car being stuck there forever like it!

And me! Don't think it was BP though. Managed to free it myself, but it was awkward.

happened to me in both the vectra & the astra. More of an embarressment than anything else, standing twisting it and yanking while hoping nobody has noticed.

Happened on the old one! Quite a lot of swearing fixed it.
