    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

    Default

I've heard reports of extremely loud noises coming from Brunty recently.

Interesting Notification of Air Movement published recently.

    NAVW: Q)EGTT/QRTCA/IV/BO/W/000/030/5229N00108W003
    FROM 07/08/20 09:00 TO 07/09/07 15:00 J3816/07
    D)AUG 20-24, 28-31, SEP 03-07 0900-1500
E)RESTRICTED AREA(TEMPORARY) FOR VULCAN TEST FLYING AT
BRUNTINGTHORPE. RESTRICTION OF FLYING REGULATIONS MADE UNDER ARTICLE
96 OF THE ANO 2005 (MIL ACFT SHOULD COMPLY WITH JSP552 201.135.9). NO
ACFT IS TO FLY WI AREA BOUNDED BY CIRCLE RAD 3NM CENTRED AT 522913N
0010750W EXCEPT ACFT FLYING WITH PERMISSION OF OPERATOR OF
BRUNTINGTHORPE AERODROME OR IN THE SERVICE OF THE LEICESTERSHIRE
    POLICE. AUS 07-08-0518/3429/AS7
    F)SFC G)3000FT AMSL

    So, basically
Between Aug 20-24, and 28-31 and on Sep 03-07 (basically Weeks 34, 35 and 36) between 9am and 3pm, no aircraft can fly within 3 nautical miles of Bruntingthorpe airfield below 3000ft unless with the permission of Bruntingthorpe control or are Leic police due to Vulcan test flying.

Anyone fancy camping out for the next 2 1/2 weeks??

I was at the then RAF Finningly for one of her last displays. Awesome! But then I remember Phantoms, Lightnings and even the venerable Shackleton. (Definitely showing my age )

That was before the scummy politicians decimated our armed forces.

I really hope that they make a success of the Vulcan. It'll certainly be a sight for the young 'uns.

Not that old then eh MLC - the Phantom and Shackleton were still flying in active service until the early 90's

I did a tour in the Falklands in 91 and the phantoms were there flying the FICZ. The Shackleton saw its time out as a weather ship fliying early morning sortes

I'll give you the lightning - they went out a while ago - beautiful jet though, like nothing they've got nowadays

They were hoping to have this appear at Airbourne (Eastbourne Airshow) last weekend. Unfortunately it didn't make it! Would have been fantastic to have seen a Vulcan fly over!!

EDIT: Just seen this link on the site that was posted above.

I spent a month on Det at Scampton in 1980 and they called a survival scramble early one morning..What a noise..went into work and not a Vulcan to be seen out on the airfield. One jet that deserves to be kept flying.

I left the RAF College Cranwell in 1989 and the Vulcan was at the annual airshow. When it did its famous sitting on its bum trick it broke a number of windows in the college and married quarters

I would love to see one fly again!

...but we did have a Jumbo jet, which is not something you often see flying very low over the prom.
