    Thumbs up Major Service

My second service is due in September, so I've been phoning round to get some prices, I was spoilt with my first service price of £49! and I've read other posts on here with people being charged around £250 at a main dealer

So, with my buttocks clenched, my first call was my local dealer, and I was very pleasantly suprised when they came back with a quote of only £152...all in! I honestly didn't expect it to be that reasonable, so I very nearly didn't make any more enquiries, but I was bored...

So after a few random independent garages who really didn't fill me with any confidence at all, and weren't any cheaper, I tried my local F1 Autocentre and nearly fell off my seat with their quote of £111

The bloke who answered the phone was not only polite and helpful, but sounded like he knew what he was talking about, too.

I know where I'll be going then and I'll let you know how good they really are...or aren't....

I'd rather have the Vx stamp for the extra £40 tbh Paul.

But they'll stamp the service book to keep the warranty valid.....they'll have to use GM or equivalent oil and filter anyway, I'd rather have the £40 in my pocket.

And I just found some money off vouchers on their website, £10 off a service, so thats £101 now. Keeps getting better!

IMO and experience, having a VX stamp is no different to having any other stamp.

Save the 40 quid and buy some lovely alcoholic beverages with it. Or self service and save even more...

If I had my own VAT registered place with a stamp, I might consider it....

You're probably right, unless the car will be disposed of privately, dealers don't seem to give any more for a stamped car than an unstamped one, but a private buyer might.

I'm still swung on the none Vauxhall dealer service. At least with Vauxhall you will get the tech 2 with fault clearance and your ECU flashed with the latest engine management software.

Fair point, but I had my fault codes reset about a month ago when it was in for the DPF, and they updated the software too. I might consider taking it back for its 3rd service just in case there's anything still to be done under warranty.

Try playing the Dealers off Paul. My mate has just done it with his Signum. Started off at £299 for second major service, plenty of debate and he has now agreed on £170 which includes brake fluid change. Mine is due next month so I will probably be doing the same.

Dealers cost me £92 for a minor service (oil change). scratched my car for the pleasure of it.

    wouldn't go back.

been to my local F1 for tyres and wheel alignment. done a good job, look forward to the feedback from the service.......
