    Default Which Vec or Sig?

    Hi guys.
I am new to this forum and interested in getting a diesel Vec. Now the thing is that I want an automatic one..... (I have my reasons)
I am sort of leaning toward an SRI 150 or an Elite 150 or a 3.0 CDTI.
Your opinions on these cars would be most welcome. I looked them up on the internet and it said that the 3.0 litre diesel had service internals of 30.000 miles !!! is this true? or was it just a misprint.

    Cheers
    Neil

All the diesels have a 30,000 interval.

As to the question in the thread title - I suppose you have to decide whether you want a Signum or a Vectra. The engines are available in both, but the specs vary between them - depending on year.

If I was you I'd go for the 3.0 V6 CDTi with an auto box matey. You'll find it a very smooth but torquey drive.

Service interval is 20,000 miles or yearly.

With regards your question of 'Vec or sig?', it all depends on what you want from a car. The signum has fantastic rear legroom, but it's really designed for only two in the back, but it can sit three comfortably. If it's boot space you need the Vec estate is the car to go for.

Choose Design, SRi or VXR for that sporty feel. The Design Signum would be my choice of those three. For comfort and toys choose the Elegance or Elite.

It's hard to recommend a certain spec without knowing what your exact requirements are, but I can for sure recommend the 3.0 CDTi in auto form.

Well I'm not a particular fan of auto boxes but I have driven a couple of 150 Auto SRIs.

The engine had more than enough power to cope with the box and the drive was very smooth around town.

The only downsides were things got a bit frantic in kickdown mode as the the box holds the gears right up to the Red line and the fuel consumption was higher than my manual 150.

I had a good old sniff around the cars at motorpoint and the signum is a nice motor - although the rear seat arrangment is a little novel. Love the shape of the Vectra though.
You recommend the 1.9 engine rather than the 3.0 litre then?

    Cheers

I had a 1.9 auto as a courtesy car and thought the car felt very jerky. The 3.0 will be much better in my opinion.

the reason for the automatic - I currently have a manual car - my wife only drives automatics. She has an imported Pajero 2.8 diesel. I had a small heart attack a couple of months ago and it cost her about £100 a week in fuel just going back and forwards to work (3 miles each way) and then to the hospital in the evening sand a bit of other running aound. So I thought that a diesel automatic that could keep me entertained as well as allow her to drive it would fill the bill.
I test drove a zafira with the 1.9 150 engine in it and it was quit punchy. the manual gear selection option on the auto box allowed for some entertainment but the car overall was too big and lumbering - hence when a couple of people from this forum joined up to one of my websites and started talking about them - I got seriously interested.
Seen what I think is a nice one in Derby.

    Cheers
    Neil

Yep I'd agree with that. OK until kickdown

They are both great engines m8, the V6 providing a little bit performance while still retaining good fuel consumption. I would say the 3.0 litre as i go for performance but its what you require.

Why not check out the 2.0Turbo
