Default Ban women NOT talking on your mobile!

On route home last night, through two car width country roads, 60mph, over the brow of a small hill and bu99er me what is parked just two wheels on the verge - a flamin Ford Ka!!!!!! I only just had time to swing the car onto the opposite side of the road - if anything've been coming it'd been 'BYE BYE JCB'

As I passed I had a look in my mirror and a woman had pulled over to take her mobile phone call!!! What a stupid place to stop - stupid mare! I'm still fuming now!

OK - I'm generalising a little, some women are perfectly good drivers, and some blokes particularly poor - and maybe I shouldn't have been doing 60 over a brow....but at the end of the day.....HOW DO THESE PEOPLE GET / KEEP A LICENCE!!!!!!!

    Same thing here last week

Was travelling from Yeadon in Leeds on the Otley Road heading for the A650 - coming round a fast bend bearly a car and a half wide and some silly c*w had pulled up half on half off in a cayanne turbo - not exactly small - sitting there chatting away without a care in the world

the road was busy as well and looking in my mirror after I passed she was making a royal mess of the traffic. I wouldn't be supprised if someone had caught her!!!!!!!

I nearly totalled a woman in a beamer today. She crossed a traffic light controlled junction on a red light, chatting merrilly away on her mobile. I don't think she registered she was crossing a junction, let alone the traffic lights. She did however notice my horn, then the sight of a bl00dy great van very nearly sitting on her lap as she dropped her mobile in fright. I really wish there had been a police officer around to see it and book/b0llock her.

I have to say I totally agree with the rules around using mobiles on the move after whitnessing this and many, many other near misses.

Yes you must be parked safely/legally and the engine must be turned off. Don't quote me on this, but i believe you can be done using a phone on hands-free as well, I assume you'd be done for driving without due care and attention in this case??

As far as I know, you've always been liable to get done for driving without due care and attention whilst using a mobile phone, whether that's hands-free or not if you make some sort of driving error that's picked up by a police officer.

The new law (I believe) states that you may not use a mobile phone whilst in control of a vehicle on the highway. Fullstop. Even using hands-free to make a call, you must at some point operate the phone, even if it's only one button on the headset or handset and you use voice dialling.

Perhaps one of our bobbies can shed some light on the subject...
