Default ECO tyre pressure in vectra manual for Good Years??

sorry about this but got a bee in me bonnet at minute about tyre pressures. In manual for Vectra have looked up the psi for my 1.9 cdti 150 and it reads 33 all round for load of up to 3 people. Next to it it says tyre pressure ECO (to reduce fuel consumption as much as possible) and it says 38 all round which is quite a bit more!!. I have since noticed on the tyre wall of the Good Year Eagles it has an eco logo with two arrows. Does this mean this is an eco tyre (as in tree hugger) or that the pressures should be 38 . Don't want to over inflate. Does anyone know whether they should be 33 or 38 and why quote two different figures in the manual???

The higher pressure will give you less rolling resistance & less grip but the ecomomy will be better - you may also get more wear in the middle of the tyre. The arrows may indicate the direction of rotation as they will be directional tyres

the arrows are wrapped around the eco logo as in the recycle logo so think it is more environmentally friendly tyre. Have had directional tyres before and these look nowt like them. Personally I think that 38 would be too high and would lead to wear in middle of tread. Think 33 is more likely but then why would VX say 38?? Mind you it is a big brute of a car!!

I tend to put about 38 in mine, plus it makes the car more responsive in the steering department. My rears have done 35k and are evenly wearing across the tread.

I also thought 38 seemed a bit excessive. I compromised and run mine at 35 all round.

Cheers for advice!! Will look toward a wee inflation one thinks!! Does anyone know where you can buy a decent tyre pressure monitor? Checked mine at local garage (still a good few milesto drive to) and pressures seem much higher than checking while cold outside house and obviously it is the law to check when cold. I know they increase with temperature but they were a good 3-4 psi higher. Mind you my pressure gauge was £3.99 from Aldi!!

I thought that a "harder" tyre (more pressuere) will get you more grip
I run mine around 35 (baddd roads) in the city and 38`s when travelling on highways, where the asphalt is a little better and the speeds are higher

Inflation above the recommended pressure will result in a smaller contact area with the road, but less sidewall flex means less heat generated, the reason higher pressures are recommended for high speed driving
