Default Question for the I.T guru's...

I work from home and my company are installing a VPN so I can access the server, files etc.

What viewing pleasure will it give them? I.e - what actions of mine will they be able to see? Internet? Msn? Downloads (!) Might have to leave things like this site open all day.

    Any advice appreciated.

But, as my fave saying goes: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference".

They will only see the information that you send through VPN. It gives you a window into their system. Not the other way round, so they won't be able to see your dodgy p0rn downloads!!

It depends what VPN (Virtual Private Network) the company are using.

Normally when you tunnel into a companies network you will be using their Proxy Server (internet Server), this keeps a record of who's using the internet and what sites they are looking and for how long.

I take it your comapany has provided you with a Broadband Connection. If you want to view any site and not let them see what it is, simply don't log on to their system through the VPN, just use the internet as normal. Only use the VPN to view your companies files.

Also bear in mind that your PC/Laptop keeps a record of what sites you've visited in Cookies, History and Temporary Internet Files. You'll need to clear these if your company supplied your Hardware.
