Am I being unreasonable?

As you know, I've got my new Siggy, which I love to bits. It's the best car in the world ever, after all.

Anyway, it won't get up to operating temperature without a fight (i.e a right beasting) but on a long downhill, or coasting, or gently cruising, the temperature gague drops back to stone cold.

It's been back to the supplying dealer twice now to be checked, now they've decided that the thermostat is playing up. They don't have it in stock. I said basically, give me the report, I'll get it into my local dealer as I'm not doing another 70 mile round trip to get it sorted.

To cut a long story short, the thermostat is on indefinate back order and the local dealer can't look at it till September!

Obviously, I've got an issue with this so have contacted Vauxhall, reminding them in no uncertain terms that at one point last year, my car was at their factory for over a month and that I wanted this sorted out somehow by the end of this week.

The customer service team promised me a call back, which didn't happen (nothing unusual!) and my 'contact' has changed his phone no'!!

So, I think I'm OK getting a little 'opinionated' regarding the situation, I haven't shouted and swore at anyone yet, but I have a horrible feeling that I may have to go and slap my hands on a counter somewhere.

that aint no good to you mate, its not your fault they dont have the thermostat in stock. I'd be walking in to my local dealers and do some hand slamming on the desk type of thing reminding of how poor they was before!... If it comes to it mate, get the other dealers to send you the thermostat and i'm sure there'll be one or two ppl not too far who will be able to help ya out

I've had a horror story that the thermostat lives in behind the cambelt....

The thought had kind of crossed my mind though! But if it's on indefinate backorder we're screwed seven ways till Sunday.

It's not madly urgent, it's still running after all, but it's just not right.

why is nothing simple or cheap. a thermostat not available from a gobal company.............balderdash and piffle......

Andrew - why don't you just go to your local dealer and sort it out under Vx warranty rather than have the longer drive, and excellent service , of the supplying dealer?

I'll see if I can get you a part number for the thermostat so you can check for yourself if it's out of stock.

That's what I'm trying to do!!

Anyway, I've logged a complaint with Vauxhall and have told them it had better be fixed properly by the end of this week and I really don't care how they manage it.
