    Question Service Intervals

...being the nerd that I am, I've only had the car a month and I'm looking to the next service

The dealer (Skoda) serviced it at approx 40k when I bought it. I'd imagine the next service would be at 50k or 1 year (whichever comes first).

Is this classed as a major or interval service for a 2.2DTi?

How much would a Vx Masterfit place charge for the service?

I'd be changing the oil every 6k at most on the 2.2DTi.

This engine model should be 10K miles / annual
    Check service history
The 40K miles should have been a fairly major service, everything and the cambelt is optional (recommended), depending on engine type
The 50K miles service is basically nothing more than an oil and filter change, check of systems, and visual inspection of the suspension and brakes
Expect to pay between £120 and £150, get quotes from two dealerships and take into account travelling costs

...trouble is all I got from the dealer was a simple stamp in the service book, I had no idea what they did, and them not being a Vx dealer makes me a little worried, not sure if this is undue.

Optional cambelt (is this the timing belt?) at 40k is a bit worrying, I'm sure when I looked into this it was about 80k?

I've just checked the log book that came with the car, it's not particularly clear I must say! question I've got is do I take it to a Vauxhall dealer or do I stick with the local independant I've used for years.

I'd go with you local independant. If you trust them thats all that matters. ALso servicing your car more than the book says is a good thing if you can afford it!
