    Default how can i connect my decks to laptop?....

    .... cheaply, could i make a phono to small plug thingy lead from my mixer & plug it in as a microphone then record it from my laptop?? any one know/any ideas? thanks

    Most laptops will only have mono inputs for a nic as you say so you only have two real choices.

    Creative do a PCMCIA Soundblaster Audigy card that will give you a good quality input (as wel as other things) or you can get USB sound cards or audio input units, usualy marketed as vinyl or tape convertors, that will do the same job.

    Either way it will cost more than a cable for decent quality I'm afraid.

    Juzzy is right you need more than a cable, but there are plenty of options out there. USB looks the easiest route.

    alot of old skool uk garage,speed garage, grime, hip hop, R&B... anything with a beat. wanting to take it to the next step & put on cd etc

    *phono to jack to go from mixer to pc (providing your line in is a jack of course, otherwise, phono to whatever the line in is)
    iMake sure yor laptop has soundforge 4 as this records from line in, then it's fine, doesn't need upgrading

    another great application for recording is audacity, its free and there are mac and linux versions too

    Nice to see someone keeping the old skool sound alive as well

    Maplin has a USB record deck recently. Its not a technic but may be worth a look.

    There not that good mate, i had one to rip all my old skool hardcore tunes to mp3, in the end had to record them using soundforge an the wire method, they all sounded really tinny with no bass
