    Default Leaking water

Hi all, just been on me hols and had my coolant light come on after tanking down to Devon.Only seemed to have dropped by 1/2 ",so topped it up.Then noticed little puddles just under front offside fog lamp every time I parked up.Can't see where it's leaking from and keep checking the level(hardly lost any on return trip-300 miles).Temp seems to swing between 0 and 90 degrees, never into the red.Is there any way to tell if it's the water pump without paying a garage to check it?It's a 1.8 petrol.

if its on the nearside you could pop open the bonnet and have a visual check. on that side you have the expansion tank, 2 hoses at the top i think and one at the bottom.. Also on that side you one connection to the rad... Failing a visual spot of it a pressure test on the cooling system by any local garage will be able to show you where it is.

This has just happened to me . Parked my car up for two weeks on a slight incline. I have noticed that I am losing water every time I park up e.t.c.....
I have checked around for loose hoses e.t.c. the engine temp is normal between 0-90....

Could it be the Air Con ?

Any Idea's other than what been suggested by Plasma...

What was the outcome when it was checked at the Garage ?

Gazza,I've just checked my expansion tank and it's gone down about 1cm.Have run car for 10mins but couldn't see a drop escape.Only seems to happen when parked up.Rang my local VX dealer and he kept saying condensation from aircon but I haven't been using it! Am baffled.Seems to be leaking from below A/C compressor on offside of radiator but can't see exactly where cause of metal strut. All pipes look in good condition.Looks like a visit to the local stealers.

Just to let you know that local mechanic had car on lift and spotted seal on bottom offside edge on radiator has gone.I could see the water dripping from the joint. He reckons £121 for the rad plus 2 hrs labour plus anti freeze =£250.Is this a fair price?

Sounds about right for a non gen rad , add another £100/£120 for VX to do the job with VX radiator ,

Just had the rad changed by local garage.Big surprise when the bill came -it was less than the quote!Top bloke charged for 1 hour labour and got the rad at a cheaper price than he quoted. All in £170.First time that a quote has been more than the actual cost!
