    Hi Justyb
Have only just fitted a CRD2(07) but from researching this and other forums i have nt found anyone that has had any probs conclusivley caused by one. Some have had spanner light and smoke issues when they ve cranked the power right up tho.But what i can say is buy one and you ll be grinning from ear to ear.Mine is only set on map 4 +0 (map 1 being the highest setting and map 4 being the lowest)and it s superb The most brutal accelleration of any thing i ve ever driven.Just keeps pulling and when you "drive miss Daisy" it just feels like a a more relaxed drive.Hope this helps

    The Positives

A lower cost way to increase bhp and torque on your CDTi engine.
Easy to fit and easy to remove, simple plug and play.
Can swap from car to car with ease.

    The Negatives

Not a proper way of tuning an engine, they trick the ECU into thinking fuel pressure has not been reached and tells it to increase it some more. This is where the extra power and torque come from.

Injector timing and boost pressure are not altered.

Not many people have had problems by using tuning box's to be fair, but persoanlly I don't agree with tuning an engine this way. In my opinion, a proper re-map is the best way to go.

Tuning box's due to there over fueling method of power increasing, can cause the fuel system internals and inlet manifold to cack up with ****. But by using a good fuel treatment on a regular basis can limit/prevent this happening.

The above by Matt is a fair view of the pro's & cons,

I have had a CR1 on for about for about 2yrs.

I had a swirl valve fault about 18 months ago, I don't think the box was to blame though as this is a known fault.

Otherwise the car has been faultless.

I can vouch for the power, it makes the car very powerful & quite savage if you want it to be, feels like it's on steroids!

The remaps are a much better overall package, but are more expensive.

You pay for what you get though!

IMO a box = problems. Although lots on here have them with no problems what-so-ever. Others have had problems and its been expensive! If its still covered with a warranty then get one, if its not, think long and hard about it.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
