I'm fairly certain there is a hole drilled for the cable and then they are bonded to make them weather proof.

    Prepared to be corrected though.

I've had this antenna before on previous company cars and in ALL cases with myself there is no hole.

The idea is that the cellphone waves are passed through the screen without the bases actually needing to touch each other. Which is why you have one on the outside.... and one directly opposite it, on the inside..

So... you just need to figure how to get them off the glass without damage.

I dont know the answer to this one ??? Sorry...

if your using hot water on the outside just make sure its a nice warm day. I can remember watching my neighbour pouring a hot kettle full of water over her windscreen to get rid of the the ice. I think you can guess what happened next.

    Kerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrack!!!!

As spoons said, there won't be a hole in the screen as the aerials work on an inductive process between the two plates. It would be way too risky for the installer to be drilling holes in safety glass. In fact I think if they even tried it'd just shatter.

I've installed a few of these over the years, (had my 1st car phone in 1987, it was in a me soupped up new escort van as well, essex lad and proud..!!!) most are just fixed with a double sided sticky pad on each part, most of them used to work on the opposites attracts method of magnet positive and negative poles rejecting each other, if you get the inner and outer parts and try to put them together you will find resistance from the magnets, im not sure sure if this has changed at all with newer ones....
