Default Springy button under the bonnet

Anyone else got one of these or know what it does? It's like the ones you get inside the door frames that turn the lights on and off, only much bigger. Would be handy if it worked an under-bonnet light but it doesn't seem to do anything...

It might be for the seatbelt detection.

He's right, thats why it is virtually in the middle of the bonnet to prevent low lifes from getting to it.

You beat me to it Duncan I typed this post then the phone rang, I was on it for over an hour then pushed reply button.

Damn new glasses, or I am going senile in my older age, I could have swore it said under the seat Not under the bonnet, yes it is for the alarm, what good it will do as the alarm is not TOO LOUD anyway.

TBH It could have a better function, my siggy tells me if my boot isn't latched properly but not if the bonnet isn't closed correctly - just on the clip.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

definitely for the alarm - it goes off if the bonnet is raised when the car is alarmed. To test it - I did this unintentionally once - release the bonnet catch in driver footwell - get out of car - lock and alarm vectra - open bonnet - and the alarm goes off.
