Default Towed home with leak (1.9CDTI 150)

Noticed a smell of diesel driving along and then see smoke from behind, stopped to take a look and thick smoke coming from under the bonnet

Called a local recovery firm who just got me home, now the smoke has cleared i can see everything is covered in diesel and the area the injectors are in are full of diesel, injector leaking possibly or just spray from elsewhere? anyone know a common leak fault like this?

    Thanks

on my old old astra diesel estate, diesel just pi$$$$$$ed out from what looked like a valve cap, and went all over the engine at the front, this probably doesnt help you much but i just remembered about it.....sounds like a loose injector to me

Well ive tightened this up as it was loose, leak has almost stopped just a very little dampness when running.

Now im trying to get a new union bolt thingy but vx will only sell me an injector for £300 even thou this just unscrews.

Please anyone have any ideas, £300 seems a bit steep for a simple bolt replacement

Looks like the alloy under the union has had a bit of a wack or is it a trick of the light?Seems like nice new shiney metal to me could this be related to the leak?

it is just the inlet for the injector, the pipe uscrews then this little thing unscrews, but it comes with an injector cant get it seperate!

Is it true that these common rails run at 26000psi ?? puts my karcher pressure washer to shame!

    For information only, conclusion

The union was the fuel inlet on injector, once unscrewed i found a copper washer, replaced it and leak sorted. didnt need a new injector after all
