Default Win an iPod for sending in pictures

    Hi guys,

Spotted this competition and thought it might interest some of you - Number plates competition. From what I can tell, they're looking for people to send in pictures of cars with personalised plates (either yours or ones you spot when out and about), and they're giving away iPods for it. Nifty little competition really

How will this information be used? Submitting images of personalised (and hence technically illegal) number plates sounds a bit dumb to me. It is asking for trouble to come knocking on your door, if it's your car of course.

HM Government Internet Searcher will be having a field day.

I never give permission for my number plate to be displayed on any internet pictures, too easy for unscrupulous people to abuse it.

A simple one is cloning, then I get speeding tickets, Congestion charges etc etc.

Can't be arsed with the hassle mainly.

Also, posting your pics is as good as admitting that you know that your plates are illegal, and hence you would have no defence if the plod send you a nice letter, or worse.

Why would a personlised number plate be illegal?

Good point. They're only illegal if you mis-space them, and then you're just asking for trouble.

Plus, cloning is only an issue if the physical plates are stolen. My dad owns a company in the motor trade and part of his business is creating the plastic number plates. Now, they can't physically create plates without the V5 logbook and driving license, plus another form of ID from the car's owner, so I think someone would have a bit of trouble cloning your number plate from a picture.

If that was the case, I could think up a random combination of letters and numbers - BD53 TLR - which quite likely belongs to somebody already - and get that knocked up on a number plate. That's why we have laws matey!

I am taking personalised as changing the format, spacing, font, design etc of the plate displayed and not the actual vehicle registration mark.

I hate to shatter your delusions, but anyone can get plates made up with no evidence of owning the car at all and with NO ID either.

I could get some made this weekend to any registration mark you give me, and to any design.

    Its just www.regtransfers.co.uk

But why people would send in pictures is beyond me! Here you go mr thief - here's a suggestion for your cloning weekend mini meet.

Anyway do you work for them or something Adam?
