    Question Ticking/Clicking noise

    Hi,

I've just bought a 2004 CTDi 3.0 V6 vectra privately and it runs perfectly. I'm really very pleased with it.

There is just one thing which is bugging me though, when I switch on the ignition (even before starting) there is a clicking/ticking noise coming from somewhere behind the centre display? It clicks quickly, but quietly about 15 times?, over about 3-4 seconds and stops. Its silent afterwards. If the cars been running that day it doesn't always do it.

The car runs fine otherwise, I just wondered if anyone else has seen this before and whether its anything to worry about? The car has a few months warranty remaining so if it is anything bad I could get it repaired I guess?

    I appreciate any info.
    Cheers
    Pete

Do you have sat nav? If yes, it could be the disc that is searching the car's position.
With a CD70 the unit starts 'warming up' the moment you open the drivers door

My 04 V6 Cdti has the same problem. Seems worse/louder when the temperature drops or when starting from cold. Disappears after a short while.

I did put it in the local Vx garage in March who said it was the servo. What they did to it I am not sure as it was back doing the same thing almost immediately. I will take it back in when I get a chance and I will let you know the outcome.

Thanks for the replies. I've been doing lots of searching and my symptoms do match the heater servo problem. I'll have a word with Vauxhall and see if I can get it sorted.

My 05 Signum 1.9CDTi makes this noise, from the same place, at the same time - but also makes a much noisier clicking sound, for the same length of time at random times when driving normally. This sound comes from a point slightly to the left of the quieter clicking noise, behind the dash. It bugs me greatly.
Is it the heater servo as well- or what?
