    Smile Rear Ashtray Assembly

I've got a 53 vectra LS, its the butchered down version without centre console and all the other bells n whistles that VX didn't put on. But my lovely children have managed to kick in my rear ashtray. I have managed to save the ashtray and the housing, but I can't locate the little peg that acts as the locking device for the ashtray. Does anyone know of a scrappy near Dudley that might have a Veccy C, so I might be able to get one ???

Which bit you meaning exactly? I've got an ashtray sat here as I replaced it due to the metal spring bit not holding it shut properly. If it's the little plastic bit that is a kinda cam type device then I should have that bit intact. Yours for a drink if we ever meet at a meet.

That sounds like the piece, it sits at the bottom back of ashtray. Can I do a swop for a stick of rock from sunny Barry in Wales ??

The rear ashtray is poorly designed IMO.

It falls out too easily, or opens too easily. Anyway, my kids think it's a sweet wrapper bin.

Cor blimey, my kids think the whole car is a good sweet wrapper bin. I keep hearing knocking noises and I think the cars playing up, but then I find a empty bottle of pop rolling around the floor well..

My rear ashtray was broken when I bought the car. Garage fitted a new one - broken again two days later. I've managed to get it closed, and when I get a free moment I'll be supergluing it shut so no-one can try to get it open again!

No, he's right - it is the kids... The rear ashtrays in Vectras aren't designed to actually be opened
