    Default Swirlpot problems

Hi chaps, this is my first message on the forum. Only joined last week.
I have a problem. Ive got a 1.9 cdti sri 2004 & the warranty has just ran out 2 months ago. Travelling down the m1 yesterday, noticed the temp gauge not working. Popped into my usual dealer who looked at vthe prob & confirmed the switch was broke & needed to pay £35 for new. Not a prob me thinks. But the service manager then reports that the computer in the service room picked up that the swirlpot actuator had failed & that would require fixing. He then quoted me £610 . jeeessss i thought. Rang cust services at Vaux & they said that they would pay 30 percent twds costs. What do i do. Ive not noticed any lack of power. Nothing at all!
    Any ideas??

just wondered if it was vardy's / evans halshore as they are well dodgy imo...

i think ian t uses marehay as he works local to them and they are ok as far as i know, still tell vx that 50% is more acceptable though m8, although i would push for more

Don't worry about the warranty being out of date, they know full well that everything has to last a reasonable amount of time. Write to them formally stating how disappointed you are and how it does not appear to be "fit for purpose". Hopefully they should change their tune.

The swirlvalve problem is as common as a common thing on a common day. The dealer is talking out of his rear matey.

I've lost count of the amount of people who've had their swirlvalve actuator replaced or at least cleaned. This is on both the Astra and the Vectra.

i live down (well up really) the road from marehay and they are expensive i have found. they quoted me £130 pound for a part and started laughing at them, got back home and orderd the exact same part from one of the places of ebay for £60. down know how difficult it would be to fit it yourself though if it is even possible, sure someone will know though. they are nice guys in there though, well the mechanics anyway, coded one of my keys for free
