Thumbs up Hi all...new here...Airbox mods....

Hi all. Just joined today, stumbled accross the site whilst looking for panel filters for my veccy! lol, very good that i did too, loads of helpful stuff on here.

While I'm here, i'll ask for sum advice on the panel filter, i have decided to go for the K&N panel filter, as it's been mentioned a lot here, seems to have a good rep?! Also ive read about the airbox mod...now, this sounds like a complicated task, ive read up on it in a few of the threads, but before I do the job, a crystal clear explanation on how to go about it would be great. Is there anyone who can give me some advice or point me in the right direction of some advice? links etc etc, pics would be great aswell... By the way I have a 2.2 SRi 16v, i dont know if the airbox setup or whatever differs a lot between the different engines.

    Thanks guys

Look it the "How 2" section m8. It is probably the easiest mod to do!

It's quite simply just snapping a piece of plastic off mate, thats it!

It does make a difference though. Remember to disconnect your battery for half an hour afterwards though to reset the ECU.
And do make sure you have the radio code, as i didnt!

And makes a big difference to the 2.2 , I noticed the flat spots dissapeared and it pulled better . When I took it out to sell the car it felt very sluggish afterwards (It was an 03 , 2.2 SRi )

Theres also a bit you can dremel off on the inside of the airbox at the intake, it is pretty obvious which part to remove when you open it up ...

Brilliant, thanks guys, as soon as i get my new filter, i'll have a good fondle under the bonnet lol.
Also i was thinking about maybe getting an induction kit, is it still ok to have one even after the airbox mod? Any ideas on what one? Had a quick look today on the net, couldnt really find too much, although i did like the look of that Pipercross Viper one....v niiice. Let me know and thanks for the help guys.

You can't have both. Its either the OE air box with a panel filter OR the induction kit. If you go with an induction kit then make sure its got a cold air feed.

hmmm, decisions decisions... I've heard that the panel is more effective performance wise, guess i'll try the filter first, see how it goes...
