The power steering fluid bottle is over the back of the engine near the bulkhead.
If you stand at driver's wing, look down the back of the engine & you will see the bottle sat on top of the steering rack

I always thought that electric power steering didn't use fluid... shows where my knowledge has lapsed...

I thought it was behind the bumper under the drivers side head light.

Not on the 1.8 petrol mate, like the 'Active' 1.8 I had. My current 2.0T has the power steering fluid exactly where you have indicated. Depends on model.

That Haynes manual is going to come in handy me thinks......

    If it ever gets published?

Aye. I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the Supervisor at the dealers checking mine on the 1.8 when the Power Steering warning light came up. Doesn't even mention it in the manual IIRC. Apparently it's hidden away because the driver wouldn't normally need to check it. Wasn't so on my old astra HTH

Edit: just thought hopefully the Haynes Manual will cater for all model-specific differences
