IPOD or mp3 in

I have seen alot of discussion in this forum about audio in and only being able to use a FM transmitter for your ipod or mp3 palyers.

I have come across this in my instruction book:

And also, this is in my sound settings on the display saying "External In".

Does anyone have this fitted to their car (as it has an asterisk showing as an option) and is it restricted to one type of head unit, such as the CD70 ?

I've never seen the input described in your handbook, but I think the external in volume shown above is for the mono input (ie phone kit) as its the same as mine (CDC40 Opera).

That is straight out of the Vectra handbook i got with my car.

The 2007 cars have the ability to have aux input fitted , i think it needs enabling , the external input is for base vol of the phone kit

It would be great to know how this is done? Part numbers, and what head unit this works with.

I see what you are saying about the external in, on reading further it does use the phone as an example.

It will be a case of popping to the dealer mate take the idiot book so you can show them what your on about , as said it may need activating on tech 2

I think you have a very new manual. From MY 2008 on all CDxx units have changed and they have an aux 3.5 mm jack. Don't think it's possible to retrofit.

I have that in my manual too. Never seen anyone refer to it yet so I thought it must be foreign markets only...

its in mine as well on an 06 SRi with the CD70 Navi head unit, I always meant to ask the dealer about it

Been to the dealer today. They spoke to VX direct and the verdict is...

Its factory fit only and cant be retro-fitted. The adapter 'square' can be ordered as a part but no-one knew how it could be plugged in.

Oh well.... But if anyone figures something out, i'd love to know...
