Thumbs up Clean & Shiny Edition100

I currently have more free time on my hands than normal, so I decided to bite the bullet and spruce up my Edition100. I live in a second floor flat and have to park the car in the driveway as I can't do so on the road I live in (busy - double yellow lines) - the only other possibility is in the next street - sod that for a game of soldiers. Trouble is I park under trees and am constantly under attack from tree sap, debris, blossom etc.etc., and have till now had to go to the local DIY car wash to rinse/wash the car - too much hassle and not always convenient - so I bought a hosepipe and fittings , (I drop the hosepipe down the side of the building) bought a Meguiars Clay kit and had a go at sprucing up the car (wash, rinse, clay and wax, and cleaning the wheels). Not bad for a first effort, and claying is a bit of a 'black art' but I do think it looks a lot better and shinier, although it will take a few clayings to fully smooth things out. Took the pictures at dusk (after 3 hours hard slog), which shows quite a good sheen I think.

    looks very nice!

BTW you shouldn't need to clay it again for another 6 months. after claying it the surface should feel like glass, best way to check is to put your hand inside a plastic bag and then lightly rub the surface, should feel very smooth!

Nice job there john. Nearly as easy to clean as at the Leeds detail day "eh".

Thanks Harry. The surface is a lot smoother than it was, but being parked under trees (no choice unfortunately), it is constantly bombarded at this time of year with sap and tree debris, so it is unlikely to remain as smooth as it is for long. Also I hadn't done any claying since the North Detailing day at the end of March. Practice will make perfect.

P.S. Just checked - lots of minute 'speckles' visible on very close inspection on bonnet and roof which were'nt there yesterday evening so trees are clearly still shedding sap and dust. TBH probably not ideal time of year for claying outdoors , but hey, you live and learn. Got no excuse to keep the car as clean as possible.

    Now for the interior
