Default Am I asking too much ??

I need to sell as my wife is gravely ill. Sod's law, my father purchased one only a month ago.....before mine was for sale........

Question is....Is it worth my asking price ? Would you stick to circa but no less than 7k ??

I didn't know where to post this, so I thought the safest place was in the 'For Sale' section. I've had it online for 3 weeks but no takers. Should I try Pistonheads ?

    Thanks all.

Well a garage near me just sold a 2.2 Direct 04 plate with 37k for £6,795 so i would say yours is overpriced, the only reason people buy private is to save a few quid, but if you are the same or dearer than a garage they wont go near yours, just my opinion mind

Thanks deanos, but I'm not sure if that's a Direct model. The steering wheel would indicate otherwise according to my local dealer. They advise a sure fire way without opening the bonnet was to look at the controls on the steering wheels. Plus the mileage on mine is nearly 10k less and the NetworkQ warranty is worth much more than an independant dealer I would suspect. Problem is getting that accross to any potential buyer.

I did a search on private and trade 2.2 SRI auto's and mine seemed to be under most traders by £750...........and privates with similar miles were on a par with mine.

I may well attempt to trade down to an older 1.8 model.

It is a direct model, the guys sells loads of SRI's.

£750 is a saving but not enough to temp people IMO

    Hi deanos,

I haven't a clue and am only going by these VX dealers in Basingstoke: http://www.jdavy.co.uk/

Normally I'd go by the DVLA website for vehicle enquiries:

    http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/application;JSESSIONID_EvlPortalApp=G764hnTLPNpvgj 1KlpFP2JqnKDTmjSKmjMGsChZSkrQWH1SLph9M!1230818390!-2033523362?origin=vnav_bar.jsp&event=bea.portal.fr amework.internal.refresh&pageid=Vehicle+Enquiry

But VX log books are NOTORIOUSLY incorrect. Some folks are driving non direct models, thinking they are driving directs. Some don't even know there's actually a difference. I don't even know if it even says 'Direct' on a logbook. On the flipside of this, some folks are driving 150 CDTI's when the log book states it as a 120 model. Lucky them !!

Any time my vehicle has been in for any work, the printout says 'SRI 150', but it's not. Even VX don't know.

As it happens, the above DVLA site has your linked Vectra in a lower tax bracket than mine, indicating it is a Direct modal, which means my local dealer is talking S * * T.

All I do know is that if my motor was a CDTI model, it would be sold by now, AND at a higher price.

I may have to swallow my pride and dip below 7K.

J Davy are stupidly expensive, I wouldn't rely on them for a reasonable comparison.

Looks a nice machine, but I'd take £6750.

Not strictly true m8. The different steering wheel was introduced on the Full CANBUS models from '54 onwards, the Directs can have the older half CANBUS wheel fitted to them

    Hi Andrew.

You know them too then ?? We purchased our last Vectra (2.2CDX) from them for £12,000 and went back for a trade-in 16 months later. They offered us £3500. (The regular guy wasn't there and his stand in lost our custom forever) As far as their service department goes, the've been really good to us

Needless to say, this time we went elsewhere, namely Fox Garage in Woking. We paid £8500 cash for it in January, so obviously would like to recoup as much back as possible given our current circumstance. I've just ammended the ad to £6875 and see if we get any calls.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Regards.

J Davy have a Signum Design on sale, has been for months too, 14000 miles, July 06, £14999.

I paid less than that for mine from another Vx garage, younger, with less miles and more options fitted.

So yes, I think they do overprice their cars.

Anyway, good luck with the sale matey, all the best.
