    hi
off to Cornwall from Newcastle on friday for our hols, approx 480 miles,

which services or even better just off motorway services do people recommend for a family to stop at?

got 2 young teenage sons who can eat a horse each 3 times a day!!!!

    quality vs price?

If its any help the better/bigger Tesco's have a handy booklet with details of all their stores and maps. Food and fuel obviously cheaper than Mway I think someone did a book on non-mway stops that are close to junctions might be on Amazon?

What Route are you taking mate??

    The way i'd go is down the A1, M18, M1, A42, M42, M5, A30....

If you're going that way, there's a Mcdonald's Service area on the A42 that is pretty ok for Kids(Not sure which Junction its on though, all i know its at the Burton turn off), and its normal Maccy's price's too, not MSA inflated one's!

Then you have Exeter Service's at J30 of the M5, but if you like McDonalds twice a day, there's Cullompton Services at J28 M5, but its not signed from the M5 southbound

    Hope this helps.

Any more help needed, just holla!

There is a McD just off the roundabout (5th exit) of A42 at Junction 13 Ashby side)
It's the first junction after you have joined the A42 at Kegworth (Junction 23A of M1)

One of the many trips I make a few times a year. Personally I'd go A69, hour and half to M6 Carlisle. If you wanted a stop here, when you get to the M6 junction 43 instead of turning left on to the motorway go straight over and 200 yards on your left is Tesco's for comfort Break. Back on to M6 and 6 miles or so is the first Moto services. I've always found the best services are the Road Chef's but it's down to personal preferences. Going down the M6 you'll find servces every 50 miles or so. I normally do Birmingham in around 5 hours going a steady 70 conserving my mpg as its me that pays for it

As been said before, not cheap, I'd take a picnic and in fact off to Sussex next week from Northumberland with 3 young children but I'll be doing the A1 down as I have already planned the trip with stops at play parks just off the main road for tea & cake. Plenty of outlets in service stations, McDonalds, Wimpey, Burger King etc

Good luck long trip many stops.
