Should the front brakes on a 3.0 Signum be getting so hot?

ive been out for 30 mins and noticed how much heat was getting thrown off the front wheels when i stopped, ive sprayed the hose pipe on them and they hissed like crazy

is this normal? the discs are getting near there limits so i will change them later on this year

they dont seem warped atall

and the braking seems to die off when out for a very long time, more noticable when i was negotiating (with extreme prejudice) the bends in the highlands last week

the pads are fine, possibly changed at the last service but the service sheet was the usual VX effort..........serviced (y/n) Y

i could very easily toast marshmallows on them, they get hotter than my bike exhaust and thats flippin hot

Dunno about the heat, but putting cold water on hot brakes is a good way of warping/cracking the discs!

As above, DON'T ever spray cold water onto hot disks they will either crack or distort causing warped disks and pedal judder!

They will get hot as they are all that is slowing/stopping over one and a half tonnes of metal from going where it wants. Shouldn't be fading though unless you are abusing them. You could get some drilled discs to dissipate the heat and dust better.

As above. Under normal use they shouldn't be getting hot. I don't think I have ever had mine fade even with some abuse. Maybe the calipers are sticking a little?

im wondering if the pads are a bit naff, the front wheels are getting choked up with brake dust very quickly

when i change the front discs ill make sure i get Ferodo pads, that should sort it out

The discs are bound to get hot the friction between the pads & the discs create heat, basic physics. If you were really trying hard/abusing them they would be glowing red hot, never seen a rally car?

How old is the car and do you know when the brake fluid was last changed ? Brake fade is usually caused by old brake fluid containing water which vapourises in the heat which reduces brake pressure.

It should be changed every two years, might be worth changing it now and seeing if it helps.
