    Default Tyre query

As a newbie to Vectras, can somebody explain the difference in wheel sizes fitted.I've got 16" alloys on my 52 plate 1.8,yet all the posts I read seem to about 17" +.I need to change the two front tyres and was a bit shocked to see the prices - I used to pay about £40 for a tyre for my old Cavalier! I'm now looking at £100 +.Are Continental Premium Contact 2's a good buy? They seem to get a good review from dealers websites but I haven't seen anyone recommend them in this forum.I've been quoted £230 for two by National tyres.Any advice appreciated.
    Pete.

Cheers mate,I've got Michelin Primacy Pilots fitted all round and was told by my Vx dealer the front ones were good for another 8/9000 miles but they're down to the tread blocks after only 2000!Must be the way I drive.

Shop around for your tyres - main stream places like National will allways be more than a local small supplier

    Hi Peter,

I have just replaced my Bridgestone Potenzas for £130 each for 18"s so i would agree with IAMTHESTIG look around.

I got mine from a back street dealer in Liverpool.

On my old Vectra(17") i got a set of Nexen N3000 tyres for £57 each fitted.

These where recommended by my brother in-law who had them fitted to his WRX-STI.

They look good and perform great in the wet and dry.

I had nexen N3000 all round on mine, fronts lasted approx 8000 miles. I thought they were ok. Now got some cheapo mp45 matador - steer well clear, they are ****e! As soon as I can afford it they will be off, lesson learnt there for me.

Thanks for the replies Guys.My local garage has just recommended Viking tyres, which he says are made by Continental, but still wants £94 per tyre!It seems to come down to the size as I raised at the start of this thread.Mine are 215 55 16 H.One dealer told me they were unusual and didn't stock anything in that size!
