...An astra
He was wondering if the 1.7cdti (not sure on the BHP) would be more powerful than the 1.9cdti (120)
Which engine is gonna give the best performance
Which car do ya think would be the cheapest to insure
cheers lads

The 1.7 CDTi is 100bhp dude.
Astra diesels come in 1.7 (100bhp), 1.9 (120bhp) and 1.9 (150bhp)
The answer to your question is obvious really. The cheapest to insure is the 1.7, and the quickest is the 1.9 150.
I think the 1.7CDTi's are only around 80BHP to 100BHP from memory, as for insurance I'm not sure.
Have a look at www.parkers.co.uk as that would give you the relevant details etc.
the 1.7 lump has two outputs. 80 and 100 bhp. The red Ti having 100. I have driven one and it was slow as hell. Would do 60+ to the gallon. So the 1.9 120 would perform better. The 120 bhp in the early MK5 astra was a 16V unit too not the 8V in the veccy or current astra so it can be mapped to 200bhp. The 1.7 will be cheaper to insure too!
Speak to Thurlby, They do a T135 for about £11k I think... That's based on a 1.7CDTi Astra.
Check their interweb site, might have something about it.
The new Corsa SRi has a 1.7 CDTi engine with 125 bhp. Aparently it's a cracker.
Another 25 bhp!!!!
