Default Failed MOT and guess what with!!!!

Took the old Sig for it's 2nd MOT yesterday. Last year it never had anything wrong and this year I thought it'd sail through again! WRONG!

Failed on a clean snap through the OSF spring! Condemned as dangerous to drive so I let the garage fix it with the genuine Vx part- £285 inc MOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! I was wanting to lower it a bit but think I'll wait till I kill the next set of springs!!!!!

CHECK???? Couldn't tell any difference and I'd hate to tell you how fast I'd gone the night before with the M1 shut behind me!!!!

Yes that was the pair but still expensive!!!

Should this really be the quality of genuine Vx parts? 4 years and 30K miles- is this really good enough along with shockers that only last a couple of years???!!!!

Yep, just had a similar bill without the MoT for my Sig for a broken front spring, both fronts replaced as the springs come in pairs from Vx.

The car was sat in the local dealers for nearly 3 weeks waiting for its 4th fuel pump, 3rd fuel rail and 2nd fuel tank to be fitted at Vx's expense (I've had 3 fuel system failures over the last 22 months) they spotted the broken spring while this work was being done. Their workshop technician refused to road test it with the broken spring. On collecting the car on Thursday it has now got a failed auto box (fault display came up after less than a mile) which I'm determined Vx are going to pay 100% for even though I'm now 10 months out of warranty; this is the well known AF33 auto box failure that's down to bad design.

Once that's done I have 2 new rear gas dampers to fit as the originals have been dripping oil on my drive for the last couple of months and after that it's likely to be 2 new rear tyres.

    I love cars!

Well, I have to say that against my expectation, Vx didn't quibble at all and I now have the car back with new gearbox and radiator. The local dealers were actually very good and their workshop controller is a star.

Now, just the dampers to change and I should be OK <inhales v. deep breath>
