    Default 3.0V6 CDTI Tuning advice

    Hi all,

I own a 56 plate 3.0 SRI cdti hatch. I've trawled the threads and to be honest I'm more confused than when I started.

I have two questions relating to boosting the power and noise of my motor. I'm thinking of a powerflow exhaust but I was wondering what the V6 diesel sounds like with a sports exhaust. I was thinking it would sound like a gruff V6 petrol with a sports exhaust, would that be a fair guess? (I don't what more diesel clatter though)

What's the best route for boosting the engine power given the fact that my car probably has DPF?

888 quoted £550 for a remap which if it retains the warranty seems a good route, however Dragon do a box for half the price. Any advice welcome.

Oh, BTW the V6 diesel is awesome and I usually get 42mpg even with an occasionally spirited driving style.

What power output and torque did 888 say they could increase it to?

Gret car isn't it. Power at the finger tips just when you need it. I went Nottingham and back yesterday and a nice leisurely drive and it returned 48mpg at a nice steady 65 on the M1/A1 over 400 miles.

If your intrested I have a CRD2 box for sale here. It came off because I have had some problems with my DPF and have had it re-mapped, Also have a genuine Irmy grille here. As you're in Durham, not too far from me, Morpeth, I can even help you fit it. The box takes 30 seconds and the grille 30 minutes.

But if you've got a DPF I personally wouldn't recommend a tuning box.

Thanks for the warning about a tunning box, I'll save up for the remap. 888 said the power would be 220bhp and 450lb/ft (I think they meant Nm though).

I was thinking of going down the VXR grill route rather than Irmscher. I did have a Irmscher grille on my Omega which made the car look great.

The tuning box is great, don't get me wrong and it gives out around the same 220bhp, but as you said, better to save for the 888 re-map if they will still do them. There is a thread on here somewhere that they have all stopped doing the V6CDTi. I'll have a search and see if I can find it.

    Yep here it is

I thought it was only the estates and signums that have the DPF? Is this true or not??
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I was sort of under the impression that the Euro 4 facelift 3.0 V6 184 PS had a DPF regardless of if its an estate or not. But not sure how you can check.

Aha, so does this mean that ALL diesel cars after 2006 (1.9's included) will have the DPF?

Edit: by the way, I hope VX can come up with a better solution for diesel clouds than this terrible contraption very soon.
