Default 05 Vectra Estate Life 1.9 CDTI 120 Spanner light keeps coming on

Have had this with the Vauxhall Dealer (Ballyrobert, Bangor NI) about 8 times now with same problem. Spanner light keeps coming on. They have said it has been a number of different sensors at fault.

Left it in today again and threatened escalation to Vauxhall UK. Dealer just rang to say they think it is something to do with clutch spring??? They want an engineer to drive it over weekend with computer plugged in to it to make sure.

Any ideas? I'm a newbie round here. Pleased to meet you all.

Hi, I have a CDTI, on one of the numerous occasions that I've had the car in for the EML being on it has been diagnosed as a clutch spring.

Hope they cure it first time

This is the 7th or 8th time they have had it. This time the mechanic drove it for 20 miles and the fault didn't appear.

The spotty teenager on the service desk said that they reprogrammed the Engine Management system. When I went off on a rant and said that this had been done before already he just shrugged his shouldres and said there wasn't a whole lot more they could do if they couldn't replicate the fault. It would appear they didn't install a new clutch spring.

He said the next step would be to replace the car bit by bit until the car was fixed. I was nearly apoplectic! I then realised that there was no point ranting at this poor guy at 7pm on a Monday evening when everyone else had went home.

What is my next step folks? The warranty is up in January. Do I send of a rant to Vauxhall UK and if so who would I send it to?

Vauxhall customer services number is 0845 0902044.
Ask them for their address and complain in writing.
List all dates the car has been in and what the dealership has or has not done
Tell them the garage are being unhelpful and you are concerned as the warranty is about to expire
    Good luck

Cheers. Just so happens that the last time I was in I asked the garage to print me off the, rather long, service history which I could photocopy and include.

Think I will do that for all the good it will do me. I wouldn't mind but theres only 17k on the clock!

Lightbulb Address for Vx UK Customer Service ?

I would certainly put this in a letter to Vx UK.

Might be useful to have this Vx Customer Service address posted up here, or as a sticky !!

OK. Light has reappeared again after 91 miles since I got it back from the dealer.

Have just phoned Vx Customer Service on 08450902044. They wouldn't give me an address but have instead logged two trouble tickets. One is a warranty complaint against the dealer, the other a technical help request. The customer service agent said they would recommend taking it to another Vx dealer.

In this instance I will give Ballyrobert one last bite at the cherry. Have just phoned the Dealer Principle to register that I have logged the complaint and technical request tickets. I also gave him a run down of the history. He checked with me if the car had a full Vx service history, which it has.

He is now checking the dealer records and will ring me back so watch this space.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with a 120?

The Vauxhall Customer Assistance email address for those who wish to know it are vauxhall.customerassistance@uk.gm.com

Perhaps someone could put this on a sticky? Am new round here so don't know how to do it. :-)

    Lightbulb Vauxhall UK Head Office

I live about 5 miles down the road from sunny Luton. GM have a much reduced presence in Luton these days, but the Vauxhall Head office is still given as -

    Griffin House
    Osborne Road
    Luton
    Bedfordshire
    LU1 3YT

    Tel: 01582 721122
    Fax: 01582 427400

If there are still problems you could always try a letter to the Chief Executive there .....

If they don't nail the issue before January, you still have the right to get them to sort it afterwards as the fault was reported before the warranty ran out.
