    confused Nankang Front Tyres....

Bought my 06 Plate Signum 1.9 CDTI 150 about 4 months ago. It has Goodyear Eagle NCT's on the rear which are ghostly silent on a motorway.
On the front however, are some Nankang's 215/50 R17's. Does anyone else have these things on their motor?
At 70+ mph they made the streeing wheel judder on poor surfaces and give me pins and needles in my arms.

Should I just get shut of them or is the shudder perhaps down to something else?

Sounds like they weren't balanced properly. Vecs are sensitive to balancing, get them to re-do them on the sensitive setting on their balancing machine.

It's the tyres fault if they vibrate at all speeds, if it comes and goes in bands then it's the balancing, if it only does it when brakeing it's the discs are warped.

it only happens around motorway cruising speeds, ie 65 to 70+ mph. Its on older road surfaces only so i guess it must be a balancing issue. Cheers

Chris, binned the Nankang tyres the other week, now running NCT 5's on the rear and Goodyear Excellence on the front. Smooth as a baby's a*se and nice and quiet! Try them!

If i'd had the money to start with, they would have been scrapped straight away. They were almost brand new when I got the car, and had covered I reckon about 2k. After less than 10k later, the inner edges were worn to h*ll and they were awfull in the wet.

I hate cheap tyres, it's the ONLY thing that keeps your car on the road yet people do put some nasty rubber on their cars.
I know price is a major factor, but some things you just have to pay for.
There are so many 'decent' cheaper tyres about as well.

    You can keep your Nankangs!
