    Default AFL recall?

    Hi

I had mentioned a few weeks ago that i was selling my vec, luckily i have managed to avoid it now! (now ive sold all the goodies i had collected for it!)
I have had a few problems with the car in the past and it has now developed a few more faults so i have booked it in at the dealers.

Whilst talking to the service dude describing my faults:

knocking coming from thr front (well more of a twang really lol)
    drivers side headlight condensation
drivers side front indicator sometimes works

he also mentioned that my car needs to come back for 3 recalls, now i had a letter regarding the heated washer nozzles a few months back, i called to book it in and was told that mine did not have them so there was no need to worry! i have now had another letter reminding me to get them checked, this time the guys say it does need to havethem reworked?

also it is being recalled for the diesel particle filter and the AFL Xenon system?

anyone experienced this or know what its about??

I have a facelift with AFL, I haven't had a recall? I think the heated washer jet one only applied to the pre-facelift.

Postal strike could have delayed my notice. When did you get the recall notice?

    Paul.

the DPF recall involves either just changing the software for it, or replaceing it as well as the update..we had that done on the family 1.9 about 6 months ago as part of the investigations into the cars poor running..

The heated washer jet recall is just so they can disable the element ( they catch fire).. Haven't heard of the AFL recall yet thou..

Mark, would the DPF affect fuel economy?

i dont know if its just me but im sure it uses more fuel than it used to!
i havent bought heavier shoes or anything like that but i havent measured or calculated to see if its different

[quote=gizmo10119;341022] would the DPF affect fuel economy? /quote]

Yes in a short answer. If the car was doing 40mpg, as the DPF comes in it will cut in that in half. On my V6 when the DPF is running and I am doing 65 in 6th on the motorway then mpg is cut to around 22mpg. When the DPF has finished it's then back up to 40ish.

Regeneration at that speed can last for anywhere between 8 and 20 miles depending on how much needs to be burnt off. The DPF needs to heat up to 700C and to do this it increases the fuel to acheive the desired temp. The user should not notice when the DPF comes on.

Mine has just had an ECU update reversed as the DPF was causing some poor running. now it seems ok. Only the 1.9 was on the recall list for the DPF.

I'll go into Vx tomorrow on the way home and find out the deal with the AFL / Xenon lighting... and if they have my heated nozzle rewiring kit in yet :/
