    Default 2013 mp3 / ipod connection

Hi, i recently bought a Creative MP3 player for exclusive use in the car - i've been using a cheapy FM transmitter, but the pirate stations keep interfering. I'd like to at least fit a headphone socket somewhere (eg in the front ashtray). I dont need power particularly as the player lasts 24 hours on battery!

Any suggestions of best way to achieve this? My old Vectra (B) had a phone input - does this one have a similar input, and how would i switch it??

PS - its NOT an ipod, so has to be a generic solution, plus then i could also plug my n95 in there as this works handsfree with headphone jack

    Thanks - Andy

anybody know the answer to this.

Ive been looking into a solution for a iPod dock with my 2013 and a question that comes up alot is..... does it have a multichanger port on the back.

My guess is no as it has a multi changer in the front, maybe somebody has a photo or knows whats on the back without me ripping mine out???

According to my local car hifi place the NCDC 2013 and 2015 do have what appears to be a cd changer connections - however, they couldnt find anyone that could make them do anything useful. If you think about it, how would you control it or switch to that input? There's no 'aux in' or '2nd cd changer' button on the front.

There are 3 connectors next to a 10A fuse labelled:
    ------------------------------------
B+ RGB- CANH CANL Mute TL+ TL-
G+ Ter DBC Dia NC Rev
R+ SYn Shid NC CDL CD- CDR
    ------------------------------------
RR FR FL RL (obviously speakers)
    ------------------------------------
SVC AR (aerial) (cant make out)
    SWC +12V (blank) (earth symbol)
    ------------------------------------

on the left are the radio GPS aerial connectors

Behind the front of the unit the CD multichanger is and 2nd single DIN unit that is bolted to the top one that contains the CD/satnav. They are connected by a single ribbon cable.

I've got some pics of the unit when it was out of the dash, i'll try and work out how to load them here.

I gave up in the end and bought an iPod plus Harman Kardon ipod kit that is hardwired onto the radio aerial so receives no interferance at all. They both work a treat plus the HK unit allows an AUX IN which i wired to pop out of a spare dashboard blank plate.

    oh your good pulseracing.

    Just what the doctor ordered.

I'm thinking the HK kit sounds good too.

Im a little concerned about somebody who posted they get a load of interferance at high volume from it.

The HK just plugs into the aerial fitment on the back of the radio and the radio into the HK kit in turn?

    thanks for the prompt reply!

i bought the 1st gen HK kit from ebay (new) recently for 25 quid
50quid for custom fitment at the local car hifi place and didnt really have to worry about the details, though i was interested

the only thing that came up is the aerial fitment attaches direct to the radio (rather than the cage it slots into) so unless it was done properly would fall off when u remove the radio (for whatever reason in the future) and not reconnect itself when you slid the unit back in (does that make sense?). Solution was to 'glue' (i think it was sealant actually) the HK socket to the cage

I can't comment on the new (colour screen) 'drive & play' - although I have heard its not as good as it can get slow to react due to downloading album art from the ipod - but I can tune radio to RDS radio1, then set the HK frequency to the same and it completly blocks radio1. I hear interferance is more likely from other electronics behind the dash so careful placement is required.

i'll post a pic of the fitment showing the headphone jack through blank plate etc if I remember. All done without cutting the car, just 2 blank plates
