Default Welding an alloy, is it safe?

One of my snowflakes has cracked along the rim on the inside edge. There's two cracks, the worst of which is under an inch long, both running perpendicular to the rim from the edge inwards. I've been looking for a new rim, but someone's suggested getting them welded. I know the weld is stronger than the original metal, but isn't it then a stress concentration? It's a lot cheaper than a new alloy, but I don't want to do it if it's not safe. Anyone here done it before, or know about the safely of it?

    Thanks!

i wouldn`t get it repaired m8 as your life would depend on it and if i was
you i wouldn`t risk it although it may be strong but i`d rather buy a new
1 or look around for a used 1 and play safe.

how much have you been quoted for a new alloy ????

As above m8 i wouldn't trust a small weld to repair the wheel, no matter who the work was done by.

Looks like everyone's leaning the same way I am, better to get a new one. Thought it was worth asking, it's £30 vs £260!

it can be done and its not going to be cheap .
    its a long slippery road
after the weld then theres the refurb so your looking at a lot more than 120

buy the new wheel its cheaper and safer in my mind
