confused Nokia Car Kits Compatibility with E50 with CR-66 & CA-55

Do any of you telecoms guys know the answer to this? I've got a CARK91 installed with the CA-55 pop port cable adapter to MC15-S cradle for my 6230i. It all works great. Trouble is my phone has gone t*ts up and my upgrade is the Nokia E50.

So I've got work to order me a CR-66 cradle for it, but here is the conundrum, will the CA-55 fit the CR66 or do I need the CK7W to work with the CR-66. I don't really want to take it all out and start again so it make a simple solution.

Hi m8, any thing past the 6230i your best bet will be to pull out the Cark-91 and upgrade the kit to a CK-7W or CK-20,

You'll have loads of software problems on the new phones working with the CA-55, Car kit not authorised, Non compatible accessories etc and other weird stuff like that,

Your best bet will be the Parrot 3200Ls, and an in car charger/cradle if you want to hold it etc, as you can upgrade the software on the car kit etc later on in live,

If you want to stick with Nokia, CK-20 may give you a longer life span,

    Hope it helps , markm

Does any one know if we can up load Excel attachments I have a car kit to phone check list.

Thanks Mark, Funnily enough, earlier I took the MC15 out and just plugged the CA-55 in to the E50 and it seems to all work fine but just hanging loose. Do you know if the CA-55 plugs into the CR-66?

    There's also the Ck-15W - http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=9871&page=3 - that I have fitted.

I was in the same situation as yourself as I had the CARK-91 and an Evo cradle for the 6230i, I now have a 6300, an Orange SPV E650 and Blackberry Pearl (don't ask!) and all work well with the kit (the E650 doesn't show the operator or signal strength though).

I think with the E50 you may have to install a small update from Nokia to allow the contacts to be uploaded properly (and I think this applies to both Nokia and Parrot carkits) and can be found on Nokia's website.

If you're in the Reading area you're most welcome to try your phone with my kit.

Directly the two will plug in to each other as they're PopPort, you may get error messages on the handset thou due to the software looking for orginal kit, IE a ck-7w upwards,

For some reason the CA-55 is picked up by the phone as not being orginal, i think its more to do with the junction box on the Cark-91 being so old,

personally if you're going to mess around with the car kit, change the junction box , if you can get hold of a CK-7W do that, next time round when you change your phone it may not work at all with the Cark-91/CA-55 combo ,

Its a good combination of bluetooth and direct connection, I'm trying to play with an ftp site , if i can work it out I'll up load the kit 2 phone guide, unless any one already has one going and I'll email it over to themto upload,
