    Default Rear Window Crank

I am really struggling to remove the window crank from my rear doors. I suppose it doesn't help that I don't really know what the fastening clip looks like to release

Can anyone offer some wise words, I have tried the old credit card method as previously suggested but I suppose I am just worried about causing too much damage

    Cheers

Cool, do you have a web link for such a tool or should I ask in Halfords or B&Q perhaps ??

Try putting a thin t towel in between the handle and door card. It might take a few attempts but if you pull the towel taught and pull it up and from side to side then the C shaped clip might and hopefully pop out. Not tried it on my Vec but it has worked on other cars for me.

If you have a really thin shaft on a screwdriver which is quite long and you no longer need (get a cheap one form the pound shop or something), bend the end about 15-20mm up to about 45 degrees from straight. This will then let you get at the ends of the circlip to push it off.

Luckily for me I had such a screwdriver pre-bent from trying to lever something off a coupl eof years ago. Didn't throw it and found it useful for all sorts of things ever since

as said use a cloth but put it between the crank and the plastic disc (behind the crank but in front of the door card) plus go from under the long part of the crank and press the door card back and move the cloth from side to side and the clip will come off no problem

not the best pics in the world but gives you an idea

Great Pic beavis...I've wondering about this for a while. I've tried a couple of times without success. Cheers.
