    Default a lancaster has just flown over my house

    yeah, heard loud aircraft coming over and stuck my head out the window and there was a lancaster one of only 2 in airworthy condition in the world

    Must have been the Battle of Britain memorial one - used to be called the "City Of Lincoln" but i think they've renamed it "Phantom Of The Ruhr"

    Note to myself...must get out more.

    we had a spitfire dive bombing the airfield yesterday... not literally, but you know what I mean ..

    not many planes make me stop and look ( having to work on them takes the magic away ), but the WW2 stuff is an excellent noise / sight as you say

    Yep - I've seen a Merlin running on a bench and it does take your breath away

    Kept thinking if there was a way of shoe-horning it into my mk3 cav i had at the time,don't think the gearbox would have taken it though

    yeah i get to see them every year when the lancing air show is on ,i go down to my parents whose home is right next to the airfield.so get a great view for free >)

    there is a guy on pistonheads who has put one in a rover sd1!!

    It's the Sunderland air show - hence all the nice planes flying about. As I'm up in the NE at the moment, seen all sorts flying over, including the Lancaster.
